Myths and Man - Symbols - Butterfly hu-die
Myths and Man - Symbols - Butterfly hu-die In the western culture the butterfly is "Nature's canvases with the gift of flight." Probably, should be called beautyfly for even in death their beauty can take you only a journey of beauty. The symbol of the butterfly as a shape, patterns of the colors, and the symmetry of beauty have long been the artist object of art. Hu-die Butterfly in China by itself or in combination with other symbols have great meaning to the people of China. Hu-die may symbolize an man in his seventies. Unlike the western culture, the Chinese see old age as a thing of beauty. Should a deceased wife appear in a dream to her husband as a butterfly it is to remind him of their 'love.' Long life and great beauty is represented by the butterfly among plum blossoms. Another well know Chinese symbol is a butterfly and cat (mao) to represent that a long life might be had by the presentation of the two symbols together. This is a series of informations on Myths and Man - Symbols it is a collection of myths and symbols I have been collecting and researching since 1968 when I first did a paper on 'Myth and Modern Day Man.' In 1968 I had an opportunity to speak with Arthur C. Clarke, who had written the short story that lead to the screenplay '2001: A Space Odyssey.' We discussed the myths of man and how myths would change man after 2001. I believe Myths and Metaphors are what moves civilization forward. jGibney (Never Published) Nature is Beautiful; Art captures the Soul.
