Myths and Man - Symbols - Carp li
Myths and Man - Symbols - Carp li Although the carp in western society may be considered a trash fish only good for goldfish ponds and fish tanks, it is being sold today in western fish markets but under a different name. The carp is a freshwater fish of the family Cyprinidae, an is gaining popularity as seen on the television show, "Good Eats." The carp itself may not symbolize much to western society, the fish or any fish takes importance in the Christian religion as a symbol of Christ Li the Chinese word for 'carp' and 'advantage' are phonetically identical except the tones are different. When spoken 'li' can mean either if you do not understand the tonal variation, then you must rely on the placement in the sentence. The carp is a symbol for business and your opportunity in business. The ability of the carp to jump great distances leads to the symbol of jumping forward and represents the ability of a student to jump forward in society with their success at the state examinations. When the carp is depicted with a fisherman handing a person with a child a carp the symbol is a wish for a good income and social advancement. The carp is also a symbol of patience and steadfastness. This is a series of informations on Myths and Man - Symbols it is a collection of myths and symbols I have been collecting and researching since 1968 when I first did a paper on 'Myth and Modern Day Man.' In 1968 I had an opportunity to speak with Arthur C. Clarke, who had written the short story that lead to the screenplay '2001: A Space Odyssey.' We discussed the myths of man and how myths would change man after 2001. I believe Myths and Metaphors are what moves civilization forward. jGibney (Never Published) Nature is Beautiful; Art captures the Soul.
