Photoartist
Photoartist You will see Photoartist spelled Photo Artist; Photoartist or derivations like Art Photo and Art Photography. But, what is this new word? What does it mean? Some seem to feel photoart is the use of vivid color enhancements on negative film that was begun in the mid-1990s. Other feel photoart is "Old School Photography"' photography the old fashion way. Still other say it is a program called PhotoArtist, the ideal painting tool for both professionals and amateurs. Photoart is loosely defined negatively as photography gone bad, artsy photography, digital photography, and amateur photography. Photoart is held in such high disregard that it gets no listing on any of the "Artsy" Art Sites. Usually, the "Artsy" site will list the work as mixed media or digital art. If you do a Yahoo! search (I refuse to use that big G or is it little g search), you will find Artist listing themselves as a Photoartist; but no explanation as to what they actually do or how they create their Art. So, what is Photoart? I believe Photoart and what it defines is still evolving. Many photographers and artists are just now beginning to discover photoart. I know from experience that Photoart for me is more than photography, painting or drawing. Having used all these methods and more, I find that Photoart gives me the depth and three-dimensional form I desire, want and need in my Art object. Like the Impressionist, we Photoartist stand outside the normal or accepted Art venues. But, normal everyday people are beginning to say, "I like this" or "This Art draws me into it" when they are viewing a Photoart piece. Even more important is that they are buying Photoart. I sell more Photoart pieces than both painted art or photography prints. The best thing is that Photoart is universal. Photoart gets the closest to the original Art image; that image that is in the creative spirit of the Photoartist. All Art uses tools to deliver the intent of the Artist; be it painter or photographer. Photoartist use these same tools, but in a discernible way that captures the Soul of the Artist; the Soul of the Art object and the Soul of the Art viewer. jGibney Photoartist Nature is Beautiful; Art captures the Soul.
