What Are You Celebrating?
What Are You Celebrating? In today's fast pace and hurry up the need to celebrate one's birthday, bar mitzvahs, office party, or holiday function is being handled more and more by professional party designers, banquet facilities and restaurants catering to the special needs of the public. A catering menu, if you are to compete, must have several additions to the concept of catering. Catering now requires more than great food and a staff that are able to handle more than attention to details. To succeed in the catering business, you will need to adjust to special requests of the client, provide delivery services to the location the client wants and needs, and the ability to provide corporate accounts. When you get special catering requests, this is often the area that will make or break the relationship with the client. The ability to provide everything from gourmet party platters, to lavish hors d'oeuvres,to imaginative buffets with ice carvings, and full-service dinner parties is a must. How your products and the quality of your products are delivered to the site location may destroy your catering reputation because of a traffic jam or important employee out sick. Of course, there are always those last minute clients that need a full sit down 10 minutes ago. The ability to adjust and handle the pressure is what determines the success of a fine catering business. Build in a delivery service that can take these bumps and slams. Everyone today uses credit cards and in the corporate world this is a must have. The corporate business may represent as much as 40% of your business. Any more than this can land you on hard time when there is a business down turn. It's the little parties that will keep the doors open. The corporate account for frequent business customers must be convenient and flexible. When planning your catering menu, you will need to divide the menu into a breakfast selection, box lunch selection, a party platters selection, your special party platters selection, hot entries selection, the dessert platters selection and the money maker the bakery selection. What you decide to put in each selection will be determined by your clients needs and availability of products in your local area. If you can get an exclusive on a product or a special buy that will be there every day, these will help you develop your brand image. It's the little special things clients and customer keep coming back to you because you are the only one that can delivery their favorite product. As stated before the bakery is your big money maker. This is where you and your staff can shine by providing those special order cakes and don't forget pies. Whether a birthday, holiday, wedding cakes (a biggy), or that special office cake, it's the personalizing of the cakes for any occasion that will make the profit. Good Luck and Great Catering zzzzz |
