What do people want?

After looking at as many websites that I could stand, the question that seemed appropriate to me was "what do people want ?" If you need information, you type in what it is you want to know or learn about, and there it is. If it is a product, the company that produced the product has all the information about the product you would think you would ever want to know. That is, of course, until something goes wrong, then you can't find one sentence that makes sense. What ever you do, don't call their customer service hot line. After 20 minutes of frustration, you get a real person. Another 30 minutes, remember you're paying the bill for this call (but I called an 800 number, yep, but on your cell phone). After asking at least three times, 2 transfers, 1 dropped call, you get a supervisor. This in charge super, stupid supervisor tells you to send them a letter explaining in detail the problem with the product. Your question, “Can I do this on line, You have an email address why can't I email you? Now this can go on and on. What do you want? A solution not a problem. (Here's a wooden nickel for you, you earned it.)

How much money do you want?

This question was put to a young man who was opening a new business (brick and mortar). “I want to make $150,000.00 a year,” was his answer. OK, how many hours must he be open to make $150,000.00 a year? A year has 8760 hours in it. The young man would have to take in $17.123287 per hour to make $150,000.00 a year if and only if he has no expenses like rent, electric, water, taxes, salaries, cost of product, loss, waste and a whole host of other expenses. Why would any one try? They try because they have a dream. It's not the amount of money the young man wanted; it was the reason he wanted it. He wanted enough money so that his wife could stay home with their one year old son. What the young man didn't realize was that his wife wanted to get out of the house and work. Do you think the young couple will ever solve this problem? The money isn't the issue here, it's the different dreams.

Knowing where to find your dream.

Knowing where to find your dream is a journey in itself. How do you find your dream? My opinion is that your dream finds you. Some people go school, meet their mate, get married, get a job, and drop dead 50 to 60 years later. Everything worked. Others never find someone to love or to be loved by. Others go from job to job like a gypsy never able to stay in one place for long. I can understand this. In my work career I had over 200 different jobs, yet I was able to retire at 55 years of age. How? I followed my dream. It wasn't how many jobs, it was about what I wanted to do. Example: working as an assistant manager, I decided I wanted to get back into filming and making commercials. One day, I just happened to mention this to the restaurant's bread delivery man and he says, “Hey, I know the manager over at the TV station I'll ask him.” A week later the bread man stopped by, “You got a couple free hours?” “Sure,” my reply. “Come on, I'll take you over in the bread truck and introduce you to the station manager,” he says. Three hours later I had a job at the TV station doing what I wanted to do. Think about what you want, tell the universe, and the universe will pull you to your dream.

Buying products on the Internet.

About 5 months ago we stopped in at Radio Shack to ask a question about a cell phone battery. While looking around, I saw a create value on a Cannon Printer/Scanner/Fax machine. Great and even the prices for the ink was better than the HP printer we had a home. We asked about ink for the Cannon printer, bought all the ink Radio Shack had on hand and told the counter person we would be back because we do a lot of printing. Two days ago, I went back to get more ink for the Cannon printer, and Radio Shack was out of the ink. Asked when did they expect to have more ink, I was told that Radio Shack wasn't going to be carrying the ink for the Cannon anymore. I found that interesting because as I pointed out to the counter person you have a Cannon printer just like I bought for sale over there. Anyway, we came home, ordered on line from Office Depot. Today the ink arrived. No shipping cost. The ink I wanted came to our front door without any problems. I guess Radio Shack is going out of business. How many more people do you think Radio Shack has done this to. Are you doing a "Radio Shack" to your customers? If you are, well, your not going to be in business long because dissatisfied customers talk. Be wary of the business that puts the customer last.
