What Do You Think?

What Do You Think?

You are doing everything the pro's, the experts are telling you to build your internet business. You've got 200 back links, 40 shared links, redid your website. SEO'd your site umpteen times. Your blog is up. You've linked in, faced up, and paged out. No sales. "What am I doing wrong?" you may ask. Your not necessarily doing anything wrong.

When I did consulting for small business I had to remind them every day. Your growing a business. If you plant a corn seed and every day you go and dig it up, the corn is not going to grow. The corn needs an environment that will give it time to grow. Have you ever watched a farmer plowing a field and three months later you pass by and there are those beautiful green corn sheaves waving in the early morning breeze, glistening with dew. Things take time to develop. A good customer base takes time. It's the littles that count. In the brick and mortar world, you have to have an opening and closing schedule. You have to meet that schedule. On the internet if you tell your customers their purchase will be there in three days, then the product better be there. Recently, we ordered printer ink from a company that was just a few miles down the road. The company failed to communicate to us that part of the order was not in stock. We needed the ink. They could not deliver on time. After a week we called an canceled the order. Are you doing this to your customer?

When consulting, I have found it can takes 30 to 60 days to turn around a business that is established. If it is a start-up business, the time frame can be 30 days to over a year. When dealing with the internet, I have seen 5 years as not being unusual. The more traffic you get on the internet the faster you can grow. The more products or choices when dealing with the internet the more likely you will complete a sale. Recently, I saw in a chat room that a successful internet products seller was telling a newbie that they made their first sale after putting up over 200 items. That as they increased their product line, the sales increased. But the first sale they got did not happen for 42 months on the web. Now, they said they get 3 or 4 sales a week. I am sure others have been more successful and others less. It all starts with patience and allowing your internet business to grow. Keep learning and keep doing what you have to do. Patience.
